Every now and then there are sessions that I know are coming and I can’t wait to shoot them. This is one of those sessions!
I’ve been waiting for this one since this little guy was born. Yes, 5 years! 5 years ago, I was very lucky to get to photograph his newborn photos and because I knew this family had a tradition, I knew this special session was coming too.
This all started many years ago with Big Sister. Mama had the idea to celebrate her daughter turning 5 years old with a special dress and photo session. So I met Mama and Big Sister in her beautiful white dress and we had her session. We also took a few family photos. At the time there were 3 little girls- Big Sister, Middle Sister and new Baby Sister. We ended the session, already excited for the day when Middle Sister would turn 5.
Then just a few years later Middle Sister was turning 5. I was so excited to once again photograph this special session! I love traditions possibly because I’m so bad at remembering and following through on them. We met at the same park and Middle Sister had her own special white dress. And once again, we did some family photos too! There was a new addition to the family- a baby boy! Yes, Little Brother joined the family and happens to share his birthday with his Middle Sister. He was just a little guy so he wasn’t quite up for laying in the leaves with his big sisters.
And then, just a few years later Little Sister turned 5. She had her pretty white dress and was ready for her session! Once again we took the opportunity to update family photos and our sibling shot that also has become part of the tradition.
After we finished, Mama and I were both excited for Little Brother to turn 5! I couldn’t wait to see what kind of session he would have. Sure enough, this fall, we had his session!
