Meet jodi!

No, I'm not a cat. 😁 Although sometimes I would love to just spend all my days curled up in a cozy spot, napping.

That is Pippin, our gray kitty, named after Peregrin Took, the mischief-making hobbit from The Lord of The Rings. Pippin, the cat, also makes frequent appearances on my Instagram (usually sleeping). He's a significant part of our family and always by my side when I'm editing.

this is me

I'm jodi!

photographer

artist

geeky fan-girl of Marvel superheroes, Star Wars, and Harry Potter

and generally, super-nice person,

eager to accept the challenge of capturing your unique family

in a fun and relaxing way.

these are my kids

my son: age 15

They are my world. They make me smile and laugh. They challenge me and encourage me. My daughter is an extroverted version of me. She's both my model and assistant, always looking to help. My son is more reserved and serious but with a witty sense of humor and an incredibly kind heart. I'm in awe of the people they're growing up to be and I feel so fortunate to know them.

I know firsthand how fast time flies by. They are 17 and 18 years old now and fully in their teenage years. It's very busy and yet, I can't seem to ignore the ticking clock. It's the constant reminder that I only have a few more years of them at home with me.

Having pictures helps me to hang on to all of these moments.

this is how i can help you

If you're like me, portraits are hard. I do not feel comfortable in front of the camera. I worry about how I look. If it's with my family, I worry about how my kids will act. And what if I don't like the images?

I get it. I get all of the barriers that make getting in front of the camera so hard. And because I understand it and feel many of those same fears, I know what can help to alleviate some of those fears.

"I'm so uncomfortable in front of the camera"

"my kids will not sit still at all"

"what if I don't like my images?"

Don't worry! I know exactly how to guide you into natural positions that also help you to look your best! I won't leave you hanging and I won't require you to contort yourself into some crazy top model pose.

Who wants to sit still? Especially when there are so many things to explore.

And this is why I build lots of breaks and walking around into my sessions. I've worked with kids for most of my life and I have all kinds of tricks to engage with them and get the best expressions for you.

Oh my, do I feel this. I've personally had some less than great experiences with photographers and it's so frustrating. Because I've been there, I want to do everything that I can to make sure you walk away from your experience not only loving your images but enjoying your time with me.

Don't worry, I got you.

"Jodi is the best! She was able to capture both of my girls' personalities in photos that I will forever treasure.

She is patient, very sweet, and took into consideration what I wanted, and delivered!"

Watercolor Paintings

When I'm not photographing people, I find my eye drawn to nature and to the smallest, most commonplace things- the tiniest blossoms, dew on a web, dried autumn thistles. Those are the images you'll find available in my fine art photography gallery.

Over the past year, I've been drawn to digital arts beyond typical portrait retouching. I create composites as well as digital paintings and drawings.

Watercolor is my first love and the medium that's connected to my history. My dad is an artist and I great up watching him create amazing, realistic images with watercolors and colored pencils. Just like my dad, I gravitate towards wildlife and landscapes with my painting.

this is my art

Some of my earliest memories are making pictures of some sort. You might even say art is in my genes. My father is an award-winning Pennsylvania wildlife artist and his father while being an amateur artist, was still well-known for his talent. I grew up seeing framed paintings and murals of my dad and grandfather's in our family homes and it never occurred to me that this wasn't typical. In addition to portrait photography, I've been drawn to creating more of my own art these days. Some works are for sale, others are just for me.
