The drive up to Erie is worthwhile when there’s a field of dandelions at the end of the road. It was time to head up to my aunt’s house in Corry to capture a sweet 6-month-old boy and his 3-year-old big sister. And I couldn’t help but capture a few shots of the older sisters too. Fortunately, it was a warm and sunny spring day and perfect for spring portraits.
Going to Grandma’s for Spring Portraits
I’m always looking for potential portrait locations and I try to always suggest to my clients that we choose someplace that has meaning to their family. For some family’s grandma’s house is the perfect place for photos! It doesn’t have to be fancy or have a perfectly manicured lawn and garden. It just has to have a connection to you!
I’m lucky to have my own connection with this house and this yard. I spent so much time playing in the yard with my cousins over the summer. Now it’s even more special being able to capture my cousin’s little ones doing the same thing.
After some outside photos, it was time to go inside for the little guy’s portraits. For this part of the session, I brought my backdrop and floor. I love having this portable set up to bring into homes or to use in my own.
My cousin has some really sweet traditions with her girls. All three have been photographed in the cutest little Steeler’s outfit and the younger two have their 3-year portraits in the same outfits. It’s so sweet to have these connections within their family. Those little details will help the girls remember as they grow.
When was the last time you had some fun portraits outside? Not the pressured filled, have to get the Christmas card photos or the awkward school photos but instead the photos of your family being together. Your kids being themselves. If it’s been awhile, contact me and let’s start planning.
