Smash Cake Session
Another trip up to Erie because this special little one turned one and it was time for her smash cake! Yes, it was only a year ago that I got to meet this sweet girl who shares her name with my baby girl. Both girls are named for a very special great-grandma. I love that history. I love that I get to tell my Sadie about her great great grandmother and I know that my cousin will tell similar stories to her Sadie as she grows. And wow, she’s really grown.
My cousin wanted another smash cake session and I was excited to help her out with that. It worked out pretty well with daughter #2 two years ago. You can see her smash cake session here. It was a little cold that morning so we decided to do everything in the house instead of outside on my aunt’s beautiful property. First off, we wanted to do some non-cake shots and I was secretly hoping for some easy smiles (6 mos was not so easy). Fortunately, we had a happy girl!
We had to have a couple with her lovey too!
I just love her beautiful brown eyes!
Then it was time for her special tutu dress. Once again, her talented mama created this in addition to the amazing smash cake!
Then it was time for cake! Sadie didn’t even hesitate to dig in.
As you can see, she really enjoyed herself!
And then, this happened… 🙁
And then it was time to clean up!
Smash cakes are a great way to celebrate turning one! I love being able to capture these special pictures separate from the craziness of the family birthday party! Do you know someone getting ready to celebrate their first year? Contact me to talk about planning your session.
