Summer is quickly coming to a close.  We’re actually only a few weeks away from heading back to school but I’m not ready to say good-bye just yet.  In fact, I’m still daydreaming and reliving our wonderful week at the Jersey Shore with my family.  It was so nice that I just had to share some images here but I thought I would break them up a bit.  First up, we have some of the nature and seascapes that I couldn’t resist trying to capture while we were there.

We stayed in a little town called Harvey Cedars on Long Beach Island.  LBI is a barrier island with the Atlantic Ocean on the east and Barnegat Bay on the west.  It’s a quiet and beautiful spot on the Jersey Shore.  I really hope that we plan more visits there in the future.

Needless to say, I took a few photos.

853 to be precise.

853!

Granted about 80% of those were photos of my adorable 2 yr old niece.  And another 18% were my own kids.  That leaves a remaining 2%.

Now my specialty is definitely portrait photography and it’s an area that I believe I’ve gotten pretty good at but like many other beach goers, I couldn’t resist trying to capture some of the beautiful sites around LBI.  I hope you enjoy them too.

After a stormy morning the bay was very choppy.

When the 2 yr old is up at sunrise, that is when you schedule her pictures.  This gorgeous sunset makes it worth it- and I got some great shots of the 2 yr old and her family too>

The end of our street offered up amazing sunsets each night.  Almost every evening, I found myself drawn to this spot.

While carrying my camera around last week, I realized that it’s easy to get into a rut with photography.  I’m so used to seeing the “portrait” shot that when there isn’t a person in my shot, I don’t always know what to do.  It’s started me thinking that I should make more time to shoot landscapes and natural scenes.
