Part of my job as a photographer is to capture those milestone moments in your child’s life.  Many of these are just those everyday moments, first smiles, first giggles, first steps but sometimes I get to be part of the more significant moments.  Recently, I was asked to do some special portraits for a little girl who took her first holy communion this spring.  I really enjoy these sessions.  I’ve been fortunate to have been asked to do this a few times for families and I have to share, my favorite part of the experience is seeing these young ladies trying so hard to act lady-like in their fancy dresses while you can see it in their eyes that they really want to just run and play like the little girls they still are.

I met Maya’s family two years ago, when her older sister took her first holy communion.  Mom had the perfect location in mind- Hartwood Acres.  So when it was Maya’s turn we went back to Hartwood.  It was beautiful weather.  Flowers were just beginning to bloom and you just can’t go wrong with such a gorgeous building as a backdrop.

Had to take a few of big sister, growing up (and I just love this shot)

And one final then and now image.  The left is from our session 2 years ago, the right is from last week.  Such sweet sisters!!
