Jodi Walsh is a Pittsburgh area photographer specializing in newborn, children and tween and teen creative portraiture. In addition to her years of experience as a photographer, she has degrees in fine art as well as in art education from Carnegie Mellon and the Maryland Institute College of Art.
I’m married with 2 kids (14 mos apart in age) and while my kids are older now, I totally remember and understand the craziness of life with small children. I also know that families aren’t perfect but that even the most imperfect families can still walk away with images that capture both beauty and love. That’s what I wish for all of my clients.
My sessions are meant to be artistic collaborations. Let's brainstorm ideas to come up with a complete session that captures you, your child or your whole family. This may seem overwhelming but trust me, it can be as simple as considering your favorite activity and incorporating that small detail into your session or it can be as elaborate as gathering costumes and props for having sword battles and finding fairies. The possibilities are endless.
The actual photo session time is designed to be relaxed and natural to encourage your true personality to shine through. I like to have a mix of posed and documentary (or lifestyle) shots throughout because those are the images that I gravitate to. I love the photos of my family sitting together and smiling but I also love that spontaneous moment when my son kisses my cheek or my daughter makes me laugh out loud. Those are the images that I want for my clients too.
My goal is to provide my clients with an enjoyable and creative portrait experience. I want my clients to have gorgeous images that truly represent who they are, heirloom quality products that will be treasured for years to come and a helpful, pleasing client experience.
