little brother ~ Pittsburgh newborn photography

I admit, I’m not a big fan of change but something deep within my soul changes when the calendar turns from February to March.   The end to the dreaded February grays and the slow transition from winter to spring.

I just can’t help but feel optimistic in spring!  It seems like the world is full of reminders of possibilities – opportunities for growth and new life.  I think that’s why I have a tendency to prefer spring over fall (even though I’m still a big fan of pumpkin spice and cozy sweaters)!

And what better reminder of the possibilities of spring than with a newborn session.

session details-

In-home Newborn and Family Session

  • Session type: In-home studio style
  • Subject: newborn boy & family (including 2 yr old brother)
  • Location: Pittsburgh, Fox Chapel area

This session was a mostly posed, studio-style session but set up and shot in the family’s home.  I love being able to offer these sessions to my clients because I remember so vividly the challenge of getting out in the world, especially with a newborn and toddler.  This session allows my families the opportunity to have beautiful photos done within the comfort of their home (and while big brother is watching his favorite cartoon with his favorite snack).

Isn’t he precious?

and another benefit of having your studio-style session in your home is that you can still have a few of those more LifeStyle images.  For example, in this session, big brother decided that he wanted to lay down next to his little brother so that’s what we did.

And then, big brother wanted to steal the show 🙂

What I love is the dirty face and bright eyes because that is what 2 is.  Often I will photoshop those bits out but this was just a fun shot so I wanted to keep it “real” because that’s how it is sometimes.

We also had the opportunity to create this image.  We did maternity session a few weeks before this beautiful boy arrived and she wanted this particular set of images in the nursery.  You can see their maternity session here.

Now most of my newborn sessions have been during the winter months.  I’m not sure why but that’s how it’s been.  This was one of my first born when the weather was warm enough to take some pictures outside and so that’s what we did.
