I’ve been a photographer for many years now and I’ve photographed a lot of special birthday images but I have a secret.  Until this week, I had never photographed a first birthday cake smash!!  It’s crazy but finally, I can tick that off of my photography bucket list and I hope that I get to do more.

Little Ellie turned one earlier in February and her mama and I have been planning this session since the end of January.  Unfortunately, Ellie and her family live up near Erie and if it wasn’t snowing here, it was snowing there.  And it was always snowing there!  So finally over the weekend, the weather decided to cooperate and give us some sunshine without the snow.

Now Ellie was such a serious 6 month old back in September, I was really hoping to get some smiles this time and it worked.  I discovered that the little miss loves to play dress-up and loves her icing.

Then it was cake time!

After getting cleaned up, she was still smiley, so we got a couple more.

And I couldn’t resist beautiful big sis who loves playing with Miss Jodi’s dress-ups 🙂
